(With this website I'm gonna show you my journey and tips to survive your stint at Nestle.)
Hey you, Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on landing an internship. Secondly, Get ready for a whirlwind of tasks, responsibilities and meetings. Nestle is not for the faint of heart and one should always be prepared and willing to do extra work. Put in a little more effort in everything and always be on your toes. This is what I learned from my internship at Nestle. They expect more from you, than you expect from yourself. To help you step up to the plate when your internship starts, here are a few tips and tricks for you. 1. Always plan the days out - not everyone will follow the timeline you have laid out. be prepared for these times and stay calm. Not meeting a deadline is not the end of the world but always try to meet them. 2. Always keep tabs on all your contact - suppliers have their own timeline and one should always know what the capabilities of each supplier is. 3. Make sure you are very well involved in all the projects - This will help you to further understand what the department is looking for. What they want convey and what reactions they want from the customers. 4. Celebrate the mini victories - In a competitive environment as such, it is important that you recognise where you've reigned victorious. Whether it be passing all your deliverables on time or raising an idea in a meeting. This keeps the moral high. 5. Everyday won't be your day - There will be days that your patience will be tested and a whole list of emotions wills be tested. It could be a bad meeting or your suppliers are taking forever to send over samples. Just know this is a learning experience for you and if the moment arises that our moral is down in the dumps. Contact your mentor, he or she will for sure help you out. Give you that boost of confidence and the skip in your step again. 6. Keep growing and absorbing - It is absolutely normal to feel lost and like you're the odd one out for the first few weeks. Just know you can always talk to your intern friends to help you out and your supervisors are there to guide you to further your knowledge and understanding of the company. 7. Be ready for the workload - Personally during my stint I had a lot of work load, because they only had one intern instead of 3 in my department. Imagine the amount of data you have to understand and the amount of contacts you have to keep up with. 8. Be ready for the emotional strain - Not everyone is gonna be nice to you and be fair to you. It may not be your fault but learning and listening to them can make you a stronger individual. These are just some of the most important lessons I've learned from my stint at Nestle. Good luck and Have a great time at Nestle, cause I did. Best, Pam |
